Sometimes...
Sometimes we need a break.
Sometimes we need to go within.
To quiet, to listen, to detach. To detach from the stories, the resistance, the stimulus, the doing.
To close off the outside world in order to open up the inner one.
Sometimes we need to mother ourselves, to treat ourselves with the tenderness we would a child. To utter loving words and offer ourselves a tender embrace.
To remember we are as worthy of love as others. To remember that our words wound us, as they would wound others. To remember that because they were said to you and by you makes the sting no less painful.
Sometimes we need to sit with the discomfort, ask for help, feel into roads not taken. To take time to breathe and to dream and to rest.
Sometimes we need to roar and to cry and to move. To express in the company of others or in the solitude of times not witnessed by others.
Sometimes we need to take a moment to marvel at all that we are. To get off the train to take a moment.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in time, in emotions, in the words of others.
To be carried along by the bustle of life, the news, the stories and the drama. To disconnect from space and stillness and silence.
Be brave enough to take time out.
To nurture yourself back to life.
Go gentle with yourself.
Remember to treat yourself with the ferocity of love and care you save for others.
