Lesson 3 from Necker Island: From Richard
As some of you know I was invited to Necker Island as part of The Collective, a mastermind group of women leaders and entrepreneurs led by Natalie MacNeil which is an official partner of Richard Branson's not-for-profit organization, Virgin Unite.
The next lessons I wanted to share came from my time with Richard and with those who we worked with as part of Virgin Unite.
The Virgin Unite team and Richard are committed to making a difference in the world by supporting causes related to economic empowerment, criminal justice reform, environmental stewardship and conservation, youth leadership, and so much more.
If you are interested to see how you can get involved I would really recommend you read more about Virgin Unite here.
So today I move on to the lessons I learnt from Richard, who so generously spent so much time with us over the 5 days.
Here we go: -
⭐ Everyone of us has the ability to make a difference - whether that is in our immediate circle, in our communities or throughout the world. It's your commitment to making a difference which can drive the extra-ordinary. Asking yourself 'What could be my gift to the world during my time here?' and asking yourself how you think things could be done better. Then go do them.
⭐ Be audacious. Go big. There is usually a way through most problems or blocks. Follow that hunch, dream bigger, push the parameters of possibility.
⭐ Look after your health and your mind first and foremost. Don't give this up at the expense of making money - honour that this is your most important commitment to yourself. From then its your relationships - cherish these things. They matter most.
⭐ You are going to win some, lose some. Enjoy the adventure of it and get back up again. Then go bigger.
⭐ You perceived weakness can be your strength. Be bold in claiming who you are.
⭐ Just try, if you never try - then you never achieve.
⭐ PLAY! Yes work hard but life is an adventure, and wonderful, seize each moment.
⭐Follow you instinct and your gut. Encourage and embrace your curiosity, try and make things better, use your influence [no matter how small] for good.
⭐ It's not about the things, its about the betterment of the world. What will your legacy be? Not from a place of ego but from that place within you that wants to make a difference.
⭐ Be curious, question, encourage the extra-ordinary, pursue that gut feel and have as much fun as you can doing it. This is our one shot - make it a wonderful one.
